Hey again

Azrael here another post here I have decided to start on some optical animations and here’s my first it’s basically just a few lens flares along with a few other things to make it look like an eclipse with the sun going behind the moon it’s just the last few seconds of it but I really think this tutorial went really well and I didn’t find it that challenging to create such a great effect so that was cool.

To make this I started with going online to find a moon looking texture
The texture above the one I found online I then used after effects to wrap this into a ball that was pretty cool because I didn’t know that after effects could actually do that so that was nice the using the optical flares plugin that i had I created the sun using a few glows to make it after that I position the sun just peeking out from behind the moon like so:

I then made the moon rotate a bit so it looked like it was moving/ spinning in-front of the sun and I made the sun move behind the moon then I went and created another layer and using the optical flares plugin again I created this kind of glare:

I made this using a few multi-iris, glints simmers and streak’s and of course a glow as well then I made it go around the sun at the points it was going into the moon too make it look really good and following the tutorial more made it only shine where it was not obstructed by the sun or moon.

Not everything was done in the order I just talked about it in I did this from a video co-pilot tutorial by Andrew Cramer the tutorial was very good and I think I gave me a good grasp on the optical flares and I feel ready to try a more complicated tutorial

Anyway hope you like the post as much as I liked creating it as usual if you want to watch any of my videos just go to my YouTube account SirMortum they are all on there or take the direct link that I’ve posted below:
